Unit 1: Conversational Integrity Capacities

“Conversations are the root of most things that need to happen within an organisation”

Unit 1 is an interactive, reactive, self-development exercise focused on enhancing the quality of workplace (and personal) conversations.

In this unit, we introduce participants to the five Conversational Capacities:

  • Situational Awareness
  • Curiosity
  • Reflective Listening
  • Empathy
  • Self-Awareness

We’ll develop an understanding as to why each of these are essential in enhancing the quality of their conversations, know how to use them and an awareness of the benefits each can bring. Trainees will practice their skills in a range of practical, interactive scenarios.

Collaborative working relationships are the life blood of organisations.

In this unit, participants will use their previously developed Conversational Capacities to support the development of connected, collaborative working relationships, whilst being able to keep them constructive under pressure.

It’s far easier to judge different ways of thinking, than to embrace them. In this unit we’ll learn to appreciate the potential that each person’s unique way of thinking offers and expand awareness of how to interact with that potential.

“Self-awareness is the number one emotional intelligence skill for leaders”

This unit is all about becoming more self-aware about thoughts, emotions and feelings and how they impact your behaviour, the way you experience others and others’ experience of you.

We’ll support you to engage with yourself transformatively and unlock your full potential. Developing a greater self-awareness empowers participants to self-manage and optimise their internal dialogue.

In this programme we work with participants to help them stay connected with their ‘better selves’ – their thoughts, emotions and feelings, when a relational challenge arises. This awareness will give them choices about how they interact with others and enable them to stay connected rather than disconnect, respond rather than react, and empathise rather than judge.

Within unit 4, the previous 3 days’ learning will be consolidated and applied to day-to-day interactions of the team.

The Conversational Capacities have the potential to maximise and exploit differences in teams, through:

  • Embracing diversity
  • Relieving tensions through problem-solving
  • Closing gaps in potential performance
  • Increasing motivation
  • Minimising negative conflict

Participants will explore the different ways in which individuals communicate. Delegates will practice using the capacities in a relevant practical scenario such as a team meeting.

As the course draws to a close, trainees will brainstorm strategies by which they can spread their learning throughout the organisation, and future proof the ways in which they collaborate within teams.

Unit 4: Living Conversational Integrity at work
